Darwin Haynes is one of the few individuals who has
devoted nearly his entire life to the perfection of
Martial Arts, and it shows in everything he does.
But, it's his extraordinary gift for teaching his craft to
others that has made Haynes one of the most recognized
names on the East Coast for premier martial arts
instruction. Through 40 years of teaching experience,
Haynes has developed a well rounded, traditional martial
arts program that is rooted in Tang Soo Do, but includes
techniques and theories gathered from many different
styles of Martial arts. These include Karate, Tae Kwon Do,
Aikido, Muy Thai,
and modern Law Enforcement and Military concepts. He
has handpicked wisdom from every style he's encountered
and made it a part of his curriculum.
Mr. Haynes began his martial arts training as a U.S. Marine. He was stationed in Okinawa, where he studied traditional Okinawan Shorin Ryu under world class martial arts pioneer Master Eizo Shimabuku. When he left Okinawa, he continued his training in New York. Haynes received a Blackbelt in Tang Soo Do from Masters Arthur Cohen and Richard Chun.
Since then, he has become a 5th degree Blackbelt, he has taught for
4 decades, he is trained in the ISC pressure points system, and he has been a contributor and demonstrator for several Martial Arts Texts and videos. These include the book Lethal Floor Fighting, Ground Fighting Videos Vol. 1 & 2, and The Martial Arts Training Guide. He's been a demonstrator at Nassau Coliseum, NY for the Oriental World of Self Defense and his expertise has been requested for seminars and workshops held by even the most knowledgeable in the Martial Arts community. He remains grateful for all that Martial Arts has done to enrich his life, but his greatest joy comes from seeing it enrich the lives of his students.
